As usual, it’s been a pretty big week for music on triple j, with some of the finest local and international acts getting some pretty solid airplay. But just what were listeners loving the most this week? What were the tunes that dominated the airwaves, and who were the artists that now have heaps of new fans after plenty of exposure on triple j?

20. CHVRCHES
Scotland’s CHVRCHES recently made their comeback with Love Is Dead, their first album in three years. With the group already on their way to Australia for Splendour In The Grass in July, and now with a stellar album under their belts, you can be sure that this is just the tip of the iceberg for these brilliant tunemakers.
19. Disclosure
Disclosure haven’t been seen much since 2016, so when the group decided to drop ‘Ultimatum’ on us a few weeks back, the reception was pretty wild, with the tune currently serving as the twelfth most-played track on the station. A return to form for the English duo, we just hope there’s an album on the way sometime soon as well!
18. Mallrat
We recently saw Mallrat and Allday team up to deliver ‘UFO’, the product of two of Australia’s best modern hip-hop luminaries coming together to serve up an absolute belter of a track. Now Mallrat has released her latest EP, In The Sky, and it has been going gangbusters on the airwaves, with ‘Groceries’ becoming this week’s eleventh most-played track.
17. Skegss
They’ve been one of triple j listeners’ favourite acts for some time now, but after recently releasing their latest tune, ‘Up In The Clouds’, Skegss have seen themselves score the honour of having the tenth most-played track on triple j this week. The group are currently on the road in support of the new tune, so make sure you catch them live when you can!
16. Middle Kids
Middle Kids recently released their debut album, Lost Friends, and triple j listeners have been absolutely loving what they’ve heard. Winning plenty of love with tracks like ‘On My Knees’, and currently in the middle of a US tour, you can be sure that you’ll be hearing plenty more of Middle Kids in the months to come.

15. Rüfüs Du Sol
Rüfüs recently made their big comeback to the world of Aussie music, dropping a taste of their new album with ‘No Place’, and formally announcing they’re to be known as Rüfüs Du Sol from here on out. A rose by any other name certainly does smell as sweet, because ‘No Place’ has been tearing up the airwaves enough to be given the honour of this week’s ninth most-played track.
14. Trophy Eyes
Trophy Eyes recently announced that their latest album, The American Dream, is on the way, and to help make this news even more exciting, the group released their latest single, ‘You Can Count On Me’, which has become this week’s eighth most-played track. Keep a close eye on Trophy Eyes, ’cause you can count on them being one of this year’s most popular names once again.
13. Courtney Barnett
Courtney Barnett recently made her full-blown return to the charts with her second album, Tell Me How You Really Feel, and listeners have been lapping up every single song from the record. With tracks like ‘Nameless, Faceless’ and ‘Need A Little Time’ still doing the rounds, this is certainly not the last you’ve heard from ol’ Courts.
12. Anderson .Paak
It’s been two years since we received Anderson .Paak’s last album, Malibu, but now, he’s returned with new singles ‘Til It’s Over’ and ‘Bubblin’, the latter of which is this week’s fifth most-played track. The first taste of this acclaimed muso’s new album, Oxnard Ventura, fans have been loving the slick tunes that he delivers.
11. Kanye West
Kanye West dropped his latest album, ye, recently and it’s well on the way to becoming one of the most notable releases of the year. With tracks like the refreshingly honest ‘Yikes’ doing the rounds right now, we could be on track to seeing ol’ Yeezy yet again becoming one of the year’s most popular artists.
10. Rudimental
Rudimental are gearing up to release their first album in three years, Toast To Our Differences, in September, and they’ve been releasing a few new tunes in anticipation. With their leatest, the album’s title track, currently the third most-played tune on the station this week, you haven’t heard the last of Rudimental just yet.
9. Arctic Monkeys
After five years away from the game, Arctic Monkeys recently returned with their latest album, Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino, a few weeks ago. A bit of a stylistic shift for the group, it hasn’t stopped them smashing UK sales records and serving as a new favourite for the group’s dedicated fans around the world. You can be certain that the Arctic Monkeys are set to score a high placing in next year’s Hottest 100 when it rolls around in January.
8. Post Malone
Having had a stellar 2017 that included the release of tunes like ‘rockstar’, Post Malone finally released his latest album a few weeks back. Full of the huge bangers that we’ve come to expect from ol’ Postie, tracks like ‘Better Now’ have been doing the rounds, with that one currently sitting at this week’s seventh most-played spot.
7. DMA’s
DMA’s recently returned with their latest album, For Now, and fans have been loving the group’s Britpop-infused tunes. With ‘Do I Need You Now?’ currently the sixth most-played track on the station this week, the group are undoubtedly on track for another amazing year.
6. Peking Duk
Having recently dropped two new tracks (but no full-length album yet – what gives, guys?), Peking Duk are on track to absolutely dominate this year as well. With ‘Fire’ currently this week’s fourth most-played track, it won’t be long before these lads score themselves another high spot on this year’s Hottest 100.
5. G Flip
G Flip has taken over the world of Aussie music in the last few month thanks to brilliant tunes like ‘About You’ and ‘Killing My Time’, which is this week’s second most-played track. Now, having recently played her debut Aussie shows, this stunning musician is well on her way to taking over the world.
4. Hayden James
Hayden James has returned and has taken the airwaves by storm in the process. With ’Just Friends’ currently doing the rounds on the station this week and taking out the top spot for the most-played tracks, the future is looking bright once again for this exceptionally talented musician.
3. Confidence Man
They might be one of the most divisive groups in recent times, but there’s no denying the fun that Confidence Man throw into the music that they make. Recently serving as triple j’s feature album, Confidence Man have been scoring plenty of airplay thanks to their stunning collection of dance-pop gems.
2. Ocean Alley
Having won fans all over the world with the release of their brilliant single ‘The Comedown’, last year, Ocean Alley released their debut album, Chiaroscuro, a while back now. Having also served as triple j’s feature album, Chiaroscuro showcases the group’s slick jams and stunning sound, with listeners continuing to love everything they hear from this amazing collective.
1. The Presets
The Presets recently released their first album in almost six years, Hi Viz, and fans have been loving everything they’ve heard. Full of the brilliant hits that we’ve come to know and love from the lads, the album is on track to be one of the year’s biggest, with ‘Downtown Shutdown’ recently serving as the station’s most-played track.
