Now this is a lineup we can get behind. Announced this morning, triple j will be putting on quite a live music bash, led by huge names in Tash Sultana, The Smith Street Band, Thundamentals and San Cisco.

It’s all part of this year’s One Night Stand, which sees triple j take some of the best Aussie bands to regional areas that don’t always get their fair share of gigs. Even better, the One night Stand is free and all ages, so it’s a win all round.

The bash has previously headed to secluded spots like Alice Springs in Central Australia, Geraldton in WA, or Mildura in VIC, and this year’s location will be revealed next Tuesday by brekkie presenters Ben & Liam.

This year’s lineup is pretty exceptional, too. Tash Sultana’s shows are sold out across the country, so we may see some die-hard fans make the trip to see her, wherever it ends up taking place. The Smith Street Band are back with a swag of new songs from their record, as are one of our fave hip hop groups Thundamentals, and San Cisco also have a new record on the way ready to be unleashed live.

You’ll also get the chance to catch some rising local talent as an Unearthed competition winner will also get a slot on the crammed lineup.

It all goes down on Saturday April 22, with more info here. If you can’t make it out of the city, you’ll be able to hear it all broadcast live on triple j, along with various other bits and pieces of coverage throughout the event.
