Triple J want to know if you think they play too much Skip Hop! No, actually, they’re asking you to vote in a poll they’re conducting of the hottest 100 Australian albums of all time. To get your minds thinking, they took a poll of 175 Triple J disc jockeys, festival and tour promoters, bookers and ‘industry figures’ to come up with an ‘industry voted’ hottest 100.

They also polled a number of local artists to get their thoughts on must have Aussie albums in the list, who included Chris Cheney of The Living End, Powderfinger, Art vs Science, Cut Copy, Birds of Tokyo, The Grates, Hilltop Hoods and The Avalanches. Indeed it was the latter that took out the industry nominated gong, with their 2000 mash up masterpiece Since I Left You voted the greatest album of all time, ahead of INXS’ 1987 chart topper Kick and AC/DC’s 1980 comeback masterpiece, Back In Black.

Interestingly, only four female artists or female fronted bands were included in the list, and despite what you may hear incessantly throughout the day on the youth network, the industry thumbed its nose at Skip Hop, with no Aussie hip hop represented in the list.
