Vance Joy is currently enacting his plot for world domination by serving as Taylor Swift’s best buddy slash support act on her current 1989 world tour, a tour the dynamic duo will soon be bringing to Australia. But first, the singer-songwriter has a brand new single to unveil called ‘Fire and the Flood’.

The single premiered on Triple J Breakfast this morning and will be available via iTunes, digital retailers and streaming sites from Friday, 24th July and will appear on a special deluxe re-package of Vance Joy’s #1 ARIA album Dream Your Life Away in the coming months.

This special re-package will also feature another new recording from Triple J Hottest 100-topping singer-songwriter, a composition titled ‘Straight Into Your Arms’, which will similarly be available to purchase as a stand-alone song via iTunes from tomorrow.

“I had a recurring image in my head of a guy walking in the neighbourhood where his ex-girlfriend lives,” said Vance Joy of the new track. “He is haunting the places they used to go together. He has time on his hands and feels kind of useless. He thinks that when they are back together he’ll be at peace again.”

‘Fire and the Flood’ comes complete with a striking new video, which readers can check out below. The eye-catching clip was created by Seattle-based photographer, director, and producer Hayley Young and stars Vance Joy himself front and centre.
