It had been the talk of the Aussie music scene for a few months now, but unfortunately Mother Nature had other plans for the fourth edition of Vanfest, with organisers being forced to cancel the remainder of the New South Wales music fest due to poor weather conditions.

Kicking off at the Forbes Showgrounds yesterday, punters were lucky enough to catch the likes of Cosmo’s Midnight, Carmada, Luke Million, and Amy Shark performing some phenomenal sets. However, with the rain stubbornly deciding to not ease up by this morning and the campgrounds becoming flooded, organisers were forced to make the tough decision to cancel the remainder of the event.

“It saddens the organisers of Vanfest, but due to current & forecasted weather conditions, and in the safety of our patrons and staff, Vanfest 2017 will be cancelled,” stated festival personnel. “Event organisers Matt and Grant Clifton have issued a statement to advise the safety of our patrons, artists, and staff is paramount.”

“All Vanfest staff, and local volunteers have pulled together in numbers supporting the safe exit of all campers from the festival site. Ticket refunds will be available.”

“Ticketbooth will advise the refund process early next week. For further information please email [email protected]

Of course, this news meant that concertgoers would be unable to see some of Aussie music’s biggest names perform, including Dune Rats, Tash Sultana, Dean Lewis, and San Cisco. However, Vanfest organisers aren’t the type to let people down, and have announced that they have an ace up their sleeve.

In the wake of this cancellation, festival organisers have banded together to announce an impromptu replacement gig at Forbes’ Vandenberg Hotel – in accordance with the suggestions of countless Facebook users.

Featuring the likes of Tigertown, Wilsonn, Ox, Mark Furze, and Manalion, some of the finest acts from the Vanfest 2017 lineup will be putting on a show to help make up for the sets that the weather has forced punters to miss out on. That’s not all though – some “special guests” are slated to make an appearance, but you’ll only know who they are once you turn up!

It all kicks off tonight at the Vandenberg Hotel at 6pm, and runs until 2am tomorrow morning. Entry is free for all Vanfest ticket holders, but will only cost you $10 if you’re a non-ticket holder. If you’re in the area tonight, be sure to head along to help make this one of the best Saturday nights you’ve had all year.
