We’re all sad to see triple j Breakfast hosts Matt Okine and Alex Dyson go, but we’ve been asking around the presenter our readers are really going to miss is none other than Lewi McKirdy, who’s something of a cult figure amongst triple j fanatics.

In case you hadn’t heard, like co-worker Dyson, he’s been bitten by the travel bug and is heading over to the UK after six years as the host of triple j Lunch and various other jobs at the broadcaster, including hosting and producing Mix Up.

A group dubbing themselves FeelsClub were so distraught with the news that they launched a petition to turn triple j’s digital sister station, Double J, into an all-Lewi McKirdy network. “It’s for the good of the nation!” FeelsClub wrote on Change.org.

“He was the only man who knew whathat was up! He had legends every Friday throw down on the platters that matter, he has classic banter, he just gets the common man! Anyway I say we ditch Double J and just play the greatest moments of the last 10 years of Triple J (every Lewi segment) plus great new content from the Old Boy of the Beug everyday!”

Also sad to see his co-worker go, the national youth broadcaster’s resident hip-hop expert, Hau Latukefu, a.k.a. MC Hau, laid down a rap tribute to the man Lewis McKirdy during the pair’s final ever mic break together. Check it out below.
