Every week a plethora of big name acts, Australian musicians and little-known musos drop brand spankin’ new tracks on the internet. We’ve trawled through the internet to find some of our favourites and plucked them from the masses. Grab your headphones and enjoy.

ALTA – ‘Hold Your Fire’

Singer Hannah Lesser and producer Julius Dowson’s smooth use of samples and bluesy vocals have excited listeners by offering something both intriguing yet familiar.

Cheatahs – ‘Controller’

From the moment the symbols and guitars crash together in grand unification, hairs are instantly raised. The simple, echoing guitar tones drive the track as the vocals float in and out of focus, complimenting the dream-like, consuming sonics. The track twists and turns from blissful euphoria to rumbling, reverberating deeper tones that reminds all listeners that Cheatahs are not afraid to explore the darker more rock elements of shoegaze, akin to the likes of Swervedriver.

Ivan Oooze – ‘Trippin’

Explained by the indie rapper himself, ‘Trippin’ is about “a time when my mother thought chasing a career in music was more a dream that a realistic job. It breaks down the lows of what we both felt and that attitude we both had of never give up on something or someone that you love.”

Salvadarlings – ‘Beta Swan’

This stunning ’60s stained pop gem is as hypnotic as it is groovy, harkening back to the great Summer Of Love, these guys encapsulate the beauty of the past whilst producing something entirely modern.

Art Of Sleeping – ‘Crazy’

Art of Sleeping’s sultry and slick new single, ‘Crazy’, is little more than another sign that great things are in store for this talented young Brisbane five-piece, bearing all the hallmarks of a sound that may well see them hailed as the next Alt-J, though with a far more groove-laden and smoother sound. Best of all, there could just be more where this came from, with the boys recently taking to Facebook to share a video documenting the recording of a highly anticipated new collection of material. ‘Crazy’ now stands as the first single from a forthcoming album, which is due early 2015.

Montgomery – ‘Wake Up’

Covers are never easy, and at times rather questionable, however Montgomery absolutely nail their rendition of this heartbreaking track. Completely reimagined, ‘Wake Up’ is a brooding, swimming electronica beat, with wispy, eerie vocals, breathing a new form of angelic life into the classic song.

Wayfarer – ‘Halloumi’

Layered with specs of electronica flickers, this soaring jam is a beat that’ll well and truly get you up off your arse and onto the dancefloor.

The Furrs – ’66’

Who knows where it came from, we just know that this sudden garage revival that’s seemingly being spearheaded by Australia’s up-and-coming bands is freaking awesome, and this time around the band’s actually sound… y’know, garage-y. The band that might prove one of the best and most skilled exponents of this burgeoning pseudo-scene are The Furrs, whose skill is highlighted in recent cut ’66’, which features guitars so dirty they’re downright grimy and the most snarling vocals this side of a Vines album.
