The Scene Between, The Go! Team’s first album in over four years, is markedly different from any of their previous releases with bandleader Ian Parton going back to The Go! Team’s roots by writing, performing and producing all of the songs himself, sans band members

The Go! Team’s last album entitled ‘Rolling Blackouts’ became a natural end chapter for the band with members splintering off into different musical projects, getting married, teaching and experiencing real life. Frontman Ian Parton took the opportunity to return to the working methods he’d used at the origins of the band – crate digging, fooling around by himself, trying to nail a feeling. Parton elaborates, “I wanted to make an album driven by melody and song writing because catchiness is the hardest thing you can do. Brill Building hooks but permeated with a kind of wobbly VHS feel.”

Parton had four rules before starting: “Melody would guide the song, samples would be treated as an instrument rather than a basis for the song, the production would vary across the song like flipping the dial on a radio and the singers must all be people he’d never previously heard of.  Matching the song to the right voice wherever that voice was in the World, an outreach program for bedroom-core DIY artists.”

To celebrate the band’s new efforts, we have X2 EXTREMELY limited edition cassette tapes to give away. Titled Between the Scene, they are Ian Parton’s “fucked up” alternate version of the album. Not available in any other formats. This cassette will not be getting a commercial release here and there are three in total in Australia so this is very limited edition.
