Following on from the list of 25 acts announced at the tail-end of October, the full lineup for WOMADelaide 2013 has announced its full list of musical delights for next year’s world music festival to be held in Adelaide’s Botanic Park between Friday March 8 to Monday 11.

In addition to reggae legend Jimmy Cliff, the dense tour-bound The Cat Empire, funk-hop luminaries The Herd and Australia’s favourite Swedish troubadour, The Tallest Man On Earth; is an impressive list of names that celebrate the bevy of international talent that flock the world over at the Adelaide-based arts and culture festival.

Highlights include Africa’s Alif Keita, 12-piece Colombian act LA-33, UK jazz-rap innovators Herbaliser DJs, the “Hendrix of the Sahara” Vieux Farka Touré, stylish French outfit Moriarty, controversial Pervuvians Novalima, Azerbaijan’s Alim Qasmiov Ensemble, the world-recognised Soweto Gospel Choir, and Chile’s Illapu.

Australia is contributing an expansive selection of performers as well, including Tim Rogers returning to his team up with The Bamboos, a pair of excellent femme fatales in Mia Dyson and Clairy Browne & The Bangin’ Rackettes, a rare performance from reclusive electronic duo The Bird, Arnhem Land’s East Journey, roots powerhouse Kingfisha, wild gypsies Golonka, and many more.

The Peter Gabriel founded music festival will also include two new additions to the WOMADelaide programme, including a late night lounge of ambient and electronic DJs, as well as a series of forums focussing on environmental issues dubbed The Planet Talks. Hosted by ABC’s Robyn Williams and Bernie Hobbs, speakers include Elefant Traks label head and hip hop emcee, Urthboy, OzHarvest founder Ronni Kahn, Gardening Australia’s Costa Geogiadis, author Paul Ehrlich, and Australia Youth Climate Coalition Chair Anna Rose.

Which means that along with the bursting music program, there’s plenty to experience and enjoy at WOMADelaide as it enters two decades of excellence.
