You am I are set to play the headline slot at Melbourne’s rock n’ roll Community Cup this June – and that’s going to be straight after Rogers has pulled off his footy boots and jumper, because he’s playing in the match! You Am I will join Tumbleweed, The Ravelles and The Mercy Kills on the line up for the massive day of footy and rock n’ roll, which will take place at Elsternwick Park on June 26th.

Rogers says “After my inconsistent, show-ponyesque performances on the field for the mighty Rockdogs, I wanted to contribute ferociously to Melbourne’s premier A-list event by slaughtering our own back catalogue of cult classics post match.” You Am I fans are set to see the band perform a rare cover of a Nick Cave song as well. The theme for this year’s Community Cup is ‘Do You Love Me?’ and all bands performing on the day will be performing a selection of Warracknabeal’s favourite son’s back catalogue.

All the money raised from the event goes to Reclink, an organisation providing sport and arts activities to help people experiencing disadvantage, and last year’s match which saw the Rockdogs win by a point in a thriller raised almost $200,000 towards the cause.
